It's a New Orleans traditional cocktail for visitors to the French Quartaer. Hurricanes rum cocktails were created at Pat O'Brien's bar during WWII. With a whiskey shortage, rum was king! The glasses Hurricanes area served in resembles a hurricane lamp, hence the name!
Makes 1 large drink or 2 small ones.
Ingredients 2 oz. light rum 2 oz. dark rum 2 oz. passion fruit juice (We don't have this in our kitchen! I recommend orange-mango juice or pineapple juice as tasty substitutions.) 1 oz. orange juice ½ oz. fresh lime juice 1 tablespoon simple syrup (See recipe below.) 1 tablespoon grenadine orange and lime slices, and cherries for garnish Steps
