Gloria and Lizzy's Whipped cream Pound Cake
Gloria Ford and Lizzy, the Fords' cook, used whip up this cake for many birthdays and special occasions. It's moist and so reminiscent of spring. Serve it with some ice cream or some berries - why not both?
Ingredients
3 cups sugar
3 cups sifted cake flour
1 cups butter (softened)
1/2 pint (i cup) whipping cream (small carton heavy cream)
2 tsp vanilla
6 eggs
3 cups sugar
3 cups sifted cake flour
1 cups butter (softened)
1/2 pint (i cup) whipping cream (small carton heavy cream)
2 tsp vanilla
6 eggs
Steps (Don't preheat oven.)
- Grease and flour a 10-inch tube cake pan.
- Cream butter and sugar.
- Add eggs, one at a time. - very important
- In a separate, small bowl, whip the cream. (I have accidentally skipped the whipping step and the only difference was the cake texture.)
- Add flour and whipped cream alternately to the butter and sugar mixture beat in vanilla.
- Pour batter into prepared pan.
- Place in COLD oven. Then set oven temperature to 300° F and bake for 1 & 1/2 hours or until done.
