New Orleans Hurricane Cocktail

contains alcohol / gluten free / vegan
It's a New Orleans traditional cocktail for visitors to the French Quartaer.   Hurricanes rum cocktails were created at Pat O'Brien's bar during WWII.  With a whiskey shortage, rum was king!  The glasses Hurricanes area served in resembles a hurricane lamp, hence the name!

Makes 1 large drink or 2 small ones.
Ingredients
2 oz. light rum
2 oz. dark rum
2 oz. passion fruit juice  (We don't have this in our kitchen!  I recommend orange-mango juice or pineapple juice as tasty substitutions.)
1 oz. orange juice
½ oz. fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon simple syrup  (See recipe below.)
1 tablespoon grenadine
orange and lime slices, and cherries for garnish
Steps
  1. Using a cocktail shaker or a closed pitcher, fill the shaker with ice nd shake, shake, shake!  OR just ice in your glass and add ingredients.
  2. Strain into one tall large glass or 2 small cocktail glasses and add garnishes.
