Irene's chocolate Macaroons

This was my mother-in-law, Irene's, recipe. She made the best macaroons on two continents!

Ingredients
3 egg whites
1/3 cup sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon lemon juice
3/4 cup coconut flakes
1 &  1/4 cups toasted almond slivers
3/4 cup baking chocolate, ground
1/2 cup ground almonds
Steps
  1. Beat egg whites with sifted sugar. Add vanilla and lemon juice.
  2. Beat until the mixture forms high peaks. 
  3. Fold in the rest of the ingredients. 
  4. Form into small balls, place on greased cookie sheet, and let sit at room temperature for about an hour.
  5. Bake at 300° F until done.
