Gloria's Mississippi Mud Pie

Cake Ingedients
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter
4 eggs
1/3 cup cocoa
1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup chopped nuts
Topping Ingredients
1 package miniature marshmallows
Icing Ingredients
1 stick butter
1 cup powdered sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts

Steps for Cake
  1. ​Cream 1 cup butter and 2 cups granulated sugar.   Add eggs and flour alternately.   Add cocoa, salt, and vanilla.   
  2. Stir in chopped nuts.  Pour in 9 X 12" pan and bake for 30 minutes at 350° F.  
  3. Remove from oven and spread with marshmallows.   Put back in oven long enough to melt marshmallows.  Be careful not to burn!  Let topping cool and ice.
Steps for Icing
  1. Melt butter.  Add powdered sugar, cocoa, vanilla, and nuts.     Thin with milk, if necessary, to spreading consistency.
