Amaretto Sours are a fairly recent cocktail, originating in the mid-1970s as an advertising ploy, but gaining popularity on its own in the 1980s.
Makes 2 cocktails
Ingredients
3 ounces amaretto liqueur
1 & 1/2 ounces bourbon
2 ounces lemon juice
2 ounce simple syrup (See Simple Syrup recipe link.)
1 egg white
lemon or orange slices or twists and cherries for garnish

Steps
- Put amaretto, bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup, and egg white into a cocktail shaker or a lidded jar and shake for just a bit. Then, add a handful of ice and shake, shake, shake until chilled.
- Strain the mixture into a cocktail glass over ice.
- Garnish with a lemon twist and cherry.
