Lemon Drop

gf / v
Beverages
Norman Jay Hobday opened a bar in San Francisco in the 1970s and invented the Lemon Drop.  The cocktail became famous world-wide.  Oprah Winfrey gave the Lemon Drop a boost of popularity in 2006 by serving one on her TV show.  And y'all - it's NOT a Martini!! It's sugary and lemony and at once makes you recall that candy from your childhood.

ice
3/4 ounce (1 & 1/2 tablespoons) simple syrup  (See Recipe Link - Simple Syrup)

2.5 oz club soda, chilled  (I really like to use La Croix's lemon-flavored sparkling water!)
Steps
  1. Put sugar in a saucer.  Wet the rim of your glass by going around it with a lemon.  Dip the rim of the glass in the sugar and coat it.  Let it dry for a couple of minutes and it will stick better.
