Mojito

Originating in Cuba in the 1800's, the Mojito has become a fan-favorite once more.

Makes 2.
Ingredients
1 teaspoon sugar

12 leaves fresh mint - reserve a few sprigs for garnishing
3 ounces white rum
juice of two small limes or one large one
one lime sliced thin for garnish
ice

chilled sparkling water or club soda
Steps
  1. Put 1/2 teaspoon of sugar and 6 mint leaves in each cocktail glass.  Taking the back of a spoon, stir and lightly mash the sugar and mint leaves together. (The term is muddling!)
  2. Add 1 and 1/2 ounces of rum and juice of one lime to each glass.
  3. Add in lots of ice and stir.  Pour in enough sparkling water or club soda to top it off.  
  4. Garnish with mint and lime.
  5. Go sit on the porch and enjoy.
