Naranjada - Orange Drink

no alcohol / gluten free / vegan
Naranjada is a popular drink in South America.  Friends gave us Seville Oranges.  The oranges are bitter and sour, but are fabulous when used to make marmalade, drinks, and ice cream!

Makes a large pitcher or jug full.
Ingredients
1 cup sugar
6 cups water
juice of 16 bitter oranges (Sounds like a lot, but they are small and don't make much juice.)
Steps
  1. Dissolve sugar in water in a pot over low heat.
  2. Stir constantly until sugar is dissolved.  Mixture will be clear.  Cool to room temperature.
  3. Mix with water and juice.
  4. Refrigerate until very cold.
  5. Serve by itself over ice or in cocktails.
