Ramos Gin Fizz

A New Orleans favorite invented by Henry C. Ramos in 1888 at his bar, the Imperial Cabinet Saloon on Gravier Street.

Ingredients
2 ounces gin

1/2 ounce lemon juice
1/2 ounce lime juice
3/4 ounce simple syrup (recipe link)
1 ounce heavy cream
1 egg white
1/2 ounce soda
Steps
  1. Combine gin, lemon juice, lime juice, egg white, cream, and simple syrup into a cocktail shaker.  Shake for about 20 seconds.  Add ice and shake for a bit more.
  2. Strain into a cocktail glass.  Pour the soda into the shaker to get the last of the fizzy froth.  Slowly pour soda into the drink.
  3. Garnish with an orange peel or slice and serve.
