This is one of the best quick and easy dinners. It tastes like you worked for hours, instead of minutes. This is also one of those recipes where you can substitute seasonings and be creative. It will still be good.
Ingredients
1/3 cup orange juice 2 tbsp brown sugar or 1 tbsp honey 2 tbsp ginger, minced 1/3 lemon, juiced; plus 1 lemon for garnish 2 tbsp Tamari soy sauce 2 tsp red pepper flakes
1/3 tsp Tabasco sauce 1 lb shrimp, peeled & deveined - If using frozen shrimp, run under warm water a few minutes to thaw; it's super fast with frozen and pre-peeled shrimp! 1 tbsp sesame seeds (no worries, if you don't have them) green onion top, chopped fine hot, cooked rice |
Steps
- Mix everything - except shrimp, rice, green onion, and sesame seeds - in a frying pan. Heat it all on medium high for about 5 minutes, stirring continuously until it thickens.
- Lower heat to medium. Add shrimp to the mixture and cook about 3 or 4 more minutes until the shrimp is done. Keep stirring or the whole mess will stick.
- Remove pan from heat and stir in the sesame seeds.
- Serve over rice. Sprinkle green onions on top. Serve with a garnish of lemon wedges. (The lemon in the photo is huge; it camem from a friend's lemon tree.)
